Palmarosa and Lemon for your Laundry

I used to use conventional dryer sheets or fabric softeners because I equated the floral scent to mean my clothes were freshly clean.

I was surprised to learn that these things have ingredients that may be irritants or carcinogens (aka bad stuff). And after I started making non toxic replacements like essential oils on dryer balls, my skin had less breakouts! Go figure.

I like Palmarosa + Lemon on my dryer balls because it’s citrusy and floral all together. My clothes smell like spring 😊.

Fun fact: Once known as Turkish geranium oil or Indian geranium oil, palmarosa was used for centuries by the Turks to adulterate the more costly Turkish rose oil 😏.

Keep calm and just breathe

There are a lot of reasons to be anxious, freak out, or just plain worry. Not that it does any good.

Logically we know that worrying is a useless activity.

  • If you can fix the problem, don’t worry. Make a plan and fix it.
  • If you can’t fix the problem, don’t worry. Research what your options are and go from there.

Either way, don’t worry.

But sometimes, your brain doesn’t get the notice and you need a little assistance in calming down. That’s where essential oils can be extremely helpful.

I couple deep breathing exercises with essential oils that are known to have calming properties to help me find my center when life might have me off balanced.

Calm roller recipe

3 drops Cedarwood

3 drops lavender

2 drops Bergamot

2 drops Vetiver

Add drops to a 10ml bottle and fill with fractionated coconut oil (or carrier of your choice)

Release stress with tree oils

I liked it so much, I wanted to share here:

Scientific studies have shown that trees like pine, fir, cedar and cypress contain phytoncides such as alpha-pinene and beta-pinene (which make up the essential oils of many trees) and these were found to decrease levels of the cortisol stress hormone.

With that in mind, let me share what are my favorite 5 tree oils and why 🌲 🌳 🌲

🌲 Cypress: This oil is not only wonderful for releasing stored emotions, but it helps ease feelings of loss and creates a sense of security. I use in the diffuser because it has helped me to heal emotional trauma in the past. Currently it calms me emotionally, relieves anger and just helps life flow better.

🌲 Cedarwood: This oil’s powerful scent creates a relaxing, calming and comforting environment by stimulating the limbic region of the brain. It is my “Go To” each night for deep restful sleep 😴 I use sometimes in the diffuser with lavender and other times apply by itself neat to my wrists. I also use in my eyelash serum. If you want to do some light reading, google “Cedarwood and pineal gland” 😉

🌲 Northern Lights Black Spruce: This oil is grounding yet uplifting at the same time. I use this in the diffuser at night to relax and unwind. There’s is something very comforting about NLBS and orange for me.

🌲 Sacred Frankincense: This oil promotes confidence and purpose as the feelings of negativity disappear and stimulates the body’s immune system. I use Sacred Frank when I’m studying and meditating to keep my mental focus and allow for a deeper connection.

🌲 Sacred Sandalwood: The deep “woody” Sacred Sandalwood is intoxicating to me. I love the aroma and because of all it’s Oxygenated Sesquiterpenes, it will linger on the skin ALL day. I put a drop behind my ears when I feel I need a little extra clarity. I notice when I turn my head throughout the day, I get light whiffs which help me maintain my focus and vision.
