World Bee Day

There are many unsung heroes in the animal world, but one in particular is the bee.

Pretty much 90% of the worlds wild flowering plants depend on pollinators like bees in order to continue living.

Humans can be quite destructive at times and ruin the ecosystem that these pollinators need to survive. So by doing things to help save the bees and other pollinators, we are doing things to keep our food source is sustainable.

That is why the UN designated May 20 as World Bee Day.

We can do many things to help support the bees and other pollinators because they currently are under threat.

  • Plant flowers
  • Buy raw local honey
  • Support business that use sustainable farming practices
  • Protect bee colonies
  • Raise awareness of this dire issue with those in your social circle

Where do essential oils fit in?

When gardening with essential oils, you can repel bad insects which reduces the need to use pesticides. You also are able to attract good insects like pollinators to ensure your garden grows.

I like to use a pollinators spray on the leaves of my flowering fruit and vegetable plants to make sure the bees give them plenty of love.

It is my way of letting bees and other pollinators know that my yard is pollinator friendly!

If you want to use good quality essential oils in your garden and help support pollinators, I can help you order what you need.

Cooking with Oils- Deconstructed stuffed pepper with rice

Have you ever been without ideas about what to cook for dinner?

That was my predicament the other night. I was looking at recipes and decided that I wanted to make lemongrass rice with a deconstructed stuffed pepper mix.

For the main dish,

  • I browned a pound of ground turkey with an onion.
  • Added salt, pepper, & garlic.
  • Then mixed in a can of diced tomatoes, chili seasoning, 2 drops each of vitality oils cumin, parsley, and black pepper.
  • Let simmer for 15-20 minutes

For the lemongrass rice:

  • I did not have any lemongrass, so I decided to use my vitality essential oil. I put two drops in a little bit of olive oil and drizzled that over the rice in the rice cooker.
  • Then I added my water, dash of sea salt, and cooked it.

Plated it and garnished with some Homemade pickled Peppers and carrots,

Bon appétit

It turned out so good! It was very fragrant.

Why Young Living

I thought I would take a moment and share why I decided to use Young Living as my primary and really only brand when it comes to essential oils.

I used to buy other brands but I never would buy blends because I knew that a lot of unscrupulous companies would has a lot of filler oils and not a lot of the essential oil but charge as if it was a lot of the good stuff.

Fast forward to now. I love the Young Living blends just as much as the single oils. The quality can’t be beat! If you are thinking about what brand to use, Young Living is the ONE!

What makes Young living so special?

By having their own farms and employing Seed to Seal standards, Young Living ensures that NO ONE has more potent or more pure oils.

Young Living does this by regularly sampling and measuring the BRIX values of the plants.
(BRIX is a measure of the sugar level in the plants, which is indicative of plant metabolism (when plants photosynthesize, they store the energy from the sun as sugar).

Young Living then harvests the plants at the peak of their metabolic processes, which ensures that they are producing the most and best oil of their lifecycles.

You CAN NOT do this if you don’t have access to the plants on your own farms.

There is no question in my mind which brand to use to help support the wellness on my family and friends.
